The Photographer: Trish Gaunt

Trish’s education in photography began at an early age, with a traditional SLR camera, but she moved into digital photography in 2002, originally with a compact camera, but the advances in digital SLR cameras have allowed her to return to her favourite format.

Her love of photography was given to her by her father, who was continually snapping away, for enjoyment and for his job – a surveyor and estate agent. After a few years of her borrowing his camera, he bought her a camera of her own, and spent many hours teaching, helping and advising her.

He sent her on a photography course when she was thirteen years old, and from then her mind was set. She blames it on the chemicals she was using in the dark room. That, or the fact that her teacher left her alone in the dark room, and she ended up creating her own brand of art by exposing photo paper through her hands, bottles, glasses, and any other random object she could find there.

After initially following a conventional career in marketing and management, Trish now predominantly works as a freelance photographer for a variety of publications and websites, as well as working on a variety of personal projects as inspiration takes her.

The Photographer's Work

Trish is continually working on expanding her portfolio of portrait photography, and has establised this site as a sister site for Trish Gaunt Photography to do just that.

2008 started with the achievement of a lifelong dream - a safari in Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, photographing gorillas, lions, cheetahs and other fantastic wildlife in their natural habitat. The rest of the year has seen Trish continuing her portrait work, and dividing her time betweeen a series of contemporary florals and a series of contemporary black and white organics, both of which will be released as art prints and exhibited at local venues later in the year.

While this site is a major focus for her, she is still actively pursuing her more usual projects, which include working with some local businesses and tourist sites who utilise her photography, and working with a number of stock photography websites.

Her photography has appeared in e-Zines and magazines, has been used by fantasy artists as reference photos for their backdrops and regularly received coveted “Top 10” placements for her photography from the "ArtWanted" community. She has also had the good fortune to work on occasion as a freelance for a variety of independent websites promoting British heritage and tourism.

Besides providing photographs for magazines, websites, books, etc, through stock sites & independently, Trish is currently producing a range of prints and greeting cards and is looking to produce a range of postcards. Enquiries may be made here.

As ever, this is only the beginning :)
